A bicycle railroad: A little railroad extends from Burt’s Lime Kiln to Tres Pinos in San Benito County, Calif. The grade climbs the Gabilan range for 14 miles. The track consists of one rail, deeply grooved. It costs little to construct. Many localities in this state might be helped by such a line.

Victory gardens: The meeting to outline the victory garden campaign for 1944 took place in the Heroes Memorial building under the direction of Hugh Shamberger. Nevada boasted of more than 15,000 gardens in 1943. One out of every two homes in the state maintained plots for raising vegetables.
