With the divisional duals approaching, the Greenwave wrestling team is coming together at the right time.

Fallon finished fourth at the 14th annual Vaquero Classic last weekend in Fernley and sent two wrestlers to the top of the podium. Two champions — Sam Goings and Trae Workman — emerged for the Greenwave as the team also recorded one second-, four fourth- and one sixth-place finish.

Lowry won the tournament followed by Carson and Spanish Springs.

Goings and Workman continue to be the one to beat in each of their weight classes with Goings competed at 138 pounds and Workman at 145. Clay Amezquita took second at 126, while Anthony Sabatino (126), Dakota Schelling (170), Jesse Francki (182) and Ricky Rogers (220) each finished fourth. Nathan Heck (152) returned from an ankle injury and came in sixth.

The Greenwave will compete in a one-day tournament at Yerington on Saturday before returning to Fernley for the Northern Division I-A duals next week followed by the regional tournament over President’s Day weekend.
