Three hunting TV personalities with Nevada ties will assist Cabela’s managers raise funds and awareness for Nevada Outdoorsmen in Wheelchairs on July 8-9 with an adventure trek covering about 54 miles in a friendly competition.
Called the Cabela’s Outdoor Adventure Trek, the two-man teams will trek over the high Sierra from Frenchman’s Lake, taking part in rugged hiking, navigate a canoe across the lake, then catch a fish in a specified time limit or be docked time, locate and contribute something to a geocache, camp overnight, hit an archery target with bow and arrow and finally end up in front of Cabela’s at 8650 Boomtown Road in Reno. They will start the adventure the morning of July 8 and expect to reach Cabela’s by late afternoon on July 9 where they will be greeted by Cabela’s Outfitters, customers and family members.
Participating are Denis Isbister of Fallon, host of the TV show “Wild Fish Wild Places”; Dave Beronio of Gardnerville, team member of “Outback Outdoors” archery TV show; and Elko native Jay Presti, now hailing from Texas and host of the television show “Blue Collar Adventures;” along with Cabela’s Mike Aiazzi, hunting manager at the Reno store and Shane Smuin, Cabela’s district sales manager forming the Cabela’s team.
The teams will raise funds by securing donations for various equipment they will use to more successfully complete the trek. All funds raised will go to Nevada Outdoorsmen in Wheelchairs, a 501(c) (3) organization dedicated to giving the disabled the full outdoor experience via guided hunting and fishing outings. Each team has its own fundraising site including: http://www.nowadventuretrek.myevent.com/ for the Cabela’s team; http://www.nowadventuretrekteamoutback.myevent.com/ for the Outback Outdoors team; http://www.nowadventuretrekteamwild.myevent.com/ for the Wild Fish Wild Places team; and http://www.nowadventuretrekteambluecollar.myevent.com/ for the Blue Collar Adventures team.
