In this month’s Club Corner, I have the privilege of introducing you to a new food service program now available at the Fallon Youth Club, and apprising you of the upcoming fundraisers you can attend to help support our organization.
With the unwavering support of Banner Churchill Hospital, the Fallon Youth Club is proud to announce that we have begun serving fresh, hot, nutritious dinners to attendees of the club. Beginning earlier this month, the club expanded its food-service program to include serving high quality suppers to more than 100 children per week, free of charge.
The addition of dinner service is a natural extension of our existing after-school snack and summer lunch programs that currently serve more than 18,000 snacks and 8,000 lunches each and every year to children in need.
In order to guarantee the continued success of our food service programs as well as the many educational and enrichment programs we offer at the club, we must reach out to our community for financial support. We have several upcoming fundraisers where you will have an opportunity to experience a great day out amongst friends and support our cause at the same time.
On Aug. 16, members of our Board of Directors and other volunteers will be selling hamburgers and hotdogs at the sesquicentennial celebration and all-class high school reunion at Oats Park. Stop by to grab lunch or dinner and help provide the same to children in need.
On Aug. 23, the club will be holding its second annual golf tournament. Sign up your foursome today and support the community of tomorrow.
Finally, on Sept. 20, we will be holding our annual fundraiser dinner at the Slanted Porch. Contact us to help sponsor the event or simply purchase tickets to join in the fun. As always, every dollar contributed to the Fallon Youth Club stays in Churchill County and goes to support our local children.
In wrapping up this month’s column I would like you to know that we are very excited to be able to expand our services in the community and we hope you will join us at one of our fundraisers and become a part of the club’s success. Together we can continue to promote the development of healthy, educated, well-adjusted children who will, one day, assume our roles as the citizens responsible for shaping our community.
