Melvin “Verne” Butterfield passed away on June 25, 2014, after a short illness. He was born April 11, 1933 in Berry Creek, CA, graduated Fallon High and served in the US Army in Germany with the 443rd AAA BN. Verne was Sheriff’s Deputy with the Carson City Sheriff’s Reserve, owned the Mobile Station and later Verne’s Repair. He retired from the Nevada Dept. of Corrections in 1996, after 23, years. Verne is survived by his children, Margaret Whittington, Patsy Watanabe, Robert and Ron Butterfield; Granddaughters Heather Zink and Mindy Tucker and 3 Great Grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his wife Fern Butterfield; parents Albert and Elvira Butterfield; Brothers Glen and Zane Butterfield and Great Granddaughter Natalya Saraceno. Memorial Services is scheduled for July 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Walton’s, 1281 Roop St. Carson City Nevada, followed by a reception “Pot Luck” at 4150 Pheasant Drive, Carson City. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Diabetes Association.
