Fallon’s Walmart recently conducted a ribbon cutting to celebrate a grand reopening after an extensive remodeling to “refreshen” the store.

According to Walmart’s Leslee Peterson, the remodeling included repainting, adding new fixtures and displays, replacing the Walmart logo with a new one and adding more refrigeration.

Since the facility opened in February 2006, Peterson said maintenance has always been a high priority for the Fallon Walmart. She said a maintenance team recently surveyed the store and said it was in “very good shape.”

Mounir Benjilali, Fallon store’s manager, thanked customers for being patient through the remodeling process.

“I’m proud of this facility,” he said. “I want customers to say, ‘It’s our Walmart.’”

In addition to the ribbon cutting, which was attended by Walmart officials from Reno, the Churchill County High School Junior ROTC presented the colors.

Prior to the ribbon cutting, Peterson said three businesses received donations from the Walmart Foundation. Shift Manager Melinda English presented checks to the city of Fallon Mayor’s Youth Fund, the Lahontan Valley News Newspaper in Education and Northside Early Learning Center.
