SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAIN LIKELY TODAY...


.ABUNDANT MOISTURE WILL COMBINE WITH AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE TO

PRODUCE SCATTERED SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS TODAY. SOME STORMS

MAY PRODUCE VERY HEAVY RAIN OVER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. THE AREA

UNDER THE BIGGEST THREAT FOR HEAVY RAIN WILL BE EAST OF A LINE

FROM BRIDGEPORT TO YERINGTON TO FALLON TO WINNEMUCCA. AREAS OUTSIDE

OF THE WATCH ARE ALSO SUSCEPTIBLE TO HEAVY RAIN...ESPECIALLY OVER

STEEPER TERRAIN AND RECENT BURN SCARS...BUT THUNDERSTORMS ARE NOT

AS LIKELY TO BE AS WIDESPREAD IN AREAS OUTSIDE THE WATCH.

THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR


* A PORTION OF WEST CENTRAL NEVADA...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING

AREA...WESTERN NEVADA BASIN AND RANGE INCLUDING PYRAMID LAKE.


* FROM THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH THIS EVENING


* ABUNDANT MOISTURE ALONG WITH LIGHT WINDS ALOFT AND AN UPPER

LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL COMBINE TO PRODUCE SLOW MOVING

THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAIN. THE AREAS AT GREATEST RISK FOR

FLASH FLOODING INCLUDE SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS AND RECENT

BURN SCARS SUCH AS THE BERNICE FIRE.


* HEAVY RAIN MAY ALSO LEAD TO ROCK AND MUD SLIDES NEAR STEEP

TERRAIN AND COULD IMPACT TRAVEL ON AREA ROADS AND HIGHWAYS.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...


A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT FLOODING OF SMALL STREAMS...CREEKS

AND OTHER DRAINAGE AREAS IS POSSIBLE WITHIN THE WATCH AREA.

PEOPLE IN THE WATCH AREA SHOULD MONITOR WEATHER.GOV/RENO FOR

UPDATES AND BE PREPARED FOR IMMEDIATE ACTION SHOULD HEAVY RAINS

AND FLOODING OCCUR OR A FLASH FLOOD WARNING BE ISSUED.
