The Oasis Bighorns lacrosse teams split a doubleheader with the Truckee Tribe on Saturday.

The under-15 team exploded for seven goals in the first half en route to a 10-1 win. Trey Rooks, Josh Carter and Victor Sanchez all tallied hat tricks in the victory.

With the win, Oasis improves to 6-2.

Rooks netted the first two goals in the first quarter, while Carter and midfielder Kalabe Lombardo each tallied scores for a 4-0 first quarter lead.

The Bighorns added three more in the second quarter as Sanchez ignited the scoring. Carter tallied his second goal of the day later in the period.

Leading 7-0 to open the third quarter, the Bighorns added another trio of goals, with Lombardo and Rooks both completing hat tricks. The Tribe scored their lone goal in the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Morgan McAlexander added a goal and Sanchez completed his hat trick. Goaltender Kaden Stone, called up from the under-13 team, stepped between the pipes, making several saves and allowing one goal on seven shots for an 86 percent save percentage.

The defense, anchored by David Springfield and Devyn Frederick, kept Truckee chances to a minimum.

The U13 team, coming off a big 7-3 win over rival South Reno, fell 2-1 to Truckee. With the loss, the Bighorns fall to 3-4.

Both teams played a scoreless first quarter, with the Bighorns owning the possession battle, but missing the net on their shots.

In the second quarter, midfielder Donovan Fermaint opened the scoring putting the Bighorns up 1-0. Truckee answered with a goal of its own leading to a 1-1 tie at the half.

In the third quarter, Truckee scored to take the lead. In the Bighorns net, Brendan Leary allowed two goals on five shots. The Bighorns pressed for the remainder of the game, but they just couldn’t get the equalizer.

The Bighorns finish the regular season today against the Northwest Reno Outlaws. The Bighorns will represent Fallon at the High Sierra Youth Lacrosse Championships on Saturday in Tahoe City, Calif.
