Arts council’s state grants include region

The Nevada Arts Council has announced grant funding statewide amounting to $609,623 for Fiscal Year 2014-15, with almost $70,000 of it provided for organizations in Carson City and nearby communities.

In Carson City, the Mile High Jazz Band is receiving a total of $4,710 for arts learning and related partners in excellence funding. Wild Horse Productions, a theater company in Carson City, is receiving $4,162.

The Capital City Arts Initiative, another Carson City organization, will get $8,030 in two grants. The Carson City Symphony and symphony association will receive $7.758 in two grants. The Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City is slated to get a grant of $2,470. The Nevada Indian Commission, also in Carson City, receives a $3,944 grant.

Other area recipients follow.

In Incline Village, Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, $7,921 in two grants; Lake Tahoe Summerfest, $3,648; and Tahoe Gallery at Sierra Nevada College, $4,279.

In Minden, Carson Valley Arts Council, $6,712 in two grants; Minden Elementary School, $3,566;Carson Valley Community Theatre, $2,452.

In Virginia City, St. Mary’s Arts Center, $6,369 in two grants.

In the Stateline area, Get in the Act! Arts in Action receives $3,758.
