Earl Craig Ferguson passed away November 20, 2013 from cancer. In April 2010 he suffered a stroke which left him unable to care for himself. He lived the last years of his life at Mountain View Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carson City, Nevada. He was 62 years of age. Earl was born March 24, 1951 in Amery, Wisconsin. He moved with his parents to Southern California when he was still an infant as his father was serving in the Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Pendleton. Earl spent his childhood in Culver City and Hawthorne, California.He spent every summer of his young life in Wisconsin where he enjoyed fishing and swimming and many other pleasures of rural life. He attended Hawthorne High School but enlisted in the Marine Corps at age 17. While in the Marine Corps he was stationed at different bases in the U.S. and also spent time in Okinawa and Vietnam. After being honorably discharged he attended college at El Camino College and Cal State Dominguez Hills in Southern California.He was also active in the organization V.V.A.W. (Vietnam Veterans Against the War). Earl later moved to the San Jose area and attended school at Cal State San Jose. While in San Jose he worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. After some time living in San Jose, he moved to Reno, Nevada. He tried his hand at being a professional gambler, and he also worked at various jobs including working at sports book venues. After many years living in Reno, Earl moved to Carson City, Nevada and continued working various jobs including bus driver, taxi driver and other odd jobs. In his free time he enjoyed following sports, collecting sports cards, and fishing. Earl was preceded in death by his father James Ray Ferguson, Jr. He is survived by his mother Lucille Ferguson of Thousand Oaks, California, his sister and brother-in-law Cathy and Brock Miller of Newbury Park, California, his nephew Ian Miller of Seattle, Washington and niece Cordelia Miller of Newbury Park, California.
