Harlan H. Choat was born Feb 01, 1942, and passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on the morning of May 14, 2014 in Jacumba, CA. He is survived by his three children: Catherine (Dennis) Walden, Christine (Steven - deceased) Bird, Joseph (Sara) Choat; his three sisters: Nancy (Lloyd) Moulton, Beverly (Patrick) Wood, Julie (Tony) Miller; four granddaughters; and four great-granddaughters. Harlan’s brother John Choat passed away 12 hours after he did in Carson City, Nevada. Raised in Pollock Pines and Fresh Pond, he quit school in the ninth grade and ultimately become a journeyman carpenter and painter. Never settling in one place too long, he lived and worked in Minden and Dayton NV, and more recently created the Choat Equestrian center in Blythe, CA , where he eventually learned to tolerate horses. He enjoyed his retirement at 65, landing at DeAnza Springs, where he was always willing to lend a hand. A private viewing was held in San Diego CA at the Featheringill Mortuary on May 17, 2014. A celebration of life for both Harlan and John Choat will be held on May 31st at the home of Joe & Sara Choat, 4300 Louise Dr. Carson City, NV 89706 at 1:00 pm.
