Letter carriers food drive a success
On behalf of Branch 709 of the National Association of Letter Carriers, I would like to thank everyone that helped to make the 22nd annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive a success.
Because of the generosity of the citizens of Carson City, we were able to collect just over 37,000 pounds of food this year.
All food collected stays in our community and helps our local food banks throughout the summer months.
My thanks goes out to the U.S. Postal Service and its employees for all their hard work collecting the food, especially in the unexpected snow!
Thank you to employees and volunteers from FISH, Advocates to End Domestic Violence and the Ron Wood Family Resource Center which helped unload all the food, only breaking one jar of spaghetti sauce.
That is pretty good considering the thousands of cans of food and the speed at which they were handled.
Finally, a big thank you to everyone who helped get the word out, including our corporate sponsors, the Carson City Library, Nevada Appeal and CarsonNow.
