Bonanza Round Up begins Thursday

Fans from all over the world are expected to attend the Bonanza Round Up Convention to celebrate the popular western television show which aired from 1959 to 1973 on NBC. The event returns to the area, beginning Thursday, with Carson City’s Gold Dust West serving as the host hotel.

The event is scheduled to run from Thursday through Sunday in the Carson City, Lake Tahoe and Virginia City areas. People from all over the world, including England, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, Chile and Canada are expected to be represented at the event. Mitch Vogel, who played Jamie Cartwright on the show, is expected to attend this week’s convention.

Family members of many of the show’s stars have also attended conventions in the past. Beginning in 1999, Bonanza fans have held conventions in the Lake Tahoe area and the convention returns to the area for the first time since 2009.

A Bonanza Round Up Convention also held in Burbank, Calif., in Sept., 2011. The show was filmed in and around Burbank and Hollywood as well as the Northern Nevada area.

In addition to panels and guest stars who worked directly with the show, this week’s convention will feature a 1959 night, a casino night, a character night, an afternoon outdoor fair, buffets, games and contests.
