An event called a “Re-Grand Opening” for LA Bakery begins at 11:30 a.m. today to celebrate the expanded bakery and cafe at 220 W. John St. in Carson City.
“We expanded our menu also,” said Ali Arbabha after recounting the doubling in size and additional nearby parking featured at the outlet. It first opened in 2009 and has been at the present location since 2012. Changes completed on June 4 expand the outlet from 900 to 1,800 square feet. Additional parking includes seven leased spots at the Gilbert Shopping Center north of Adele’s and east of LA Bakery at Carson and John streets.
The bakery/cafe used to seat just 15; now up to 40 can be accommodated.
The celebratory event today lasts an hour, until 12:30 p.m., and features pastries and related inducements for customers.
“We are sampling some stuff from our pastries,” said Arbabha. He said people bringing in a newspaper advertisement on the event with a $10 purchase will enjoy free coffee with the purchase through July 15. He said the coffee is low acid and teas are organic without any genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
Among items included in the enlarged number of offerings are morning pastries, bagels, morning wraps featuring breakfast-related options, lunch wraps, lettuce wraps, as well as gluten free, vegan and sugar-free diabetic items, said Arbabha. The bakery also is known for baklava and cakes.
LA Bakery pastries are made daily by hand and from natural ingredients, according to the firm’s website, which offers fare online to customers. The bakery provides free delivery to locations in Carson City, Reno, Sparks, Minden and Gardnerville, with a charge for other areas. LA Bakery does catering as well, and offers wedding cakes or wedding cupcakes.
