Plungers are asked to raise $125 which provides one season of sports instruction. The funds allow local athletes an opportunity to participate in regional and national events. Among those scheduled to take the plunge, without wet suits, are members of the Storey County Sheriff’s Office, members of the Nevada Highway Patrol, Greater Nevada Credit Union and the reigning Miss Nevada, Diane Sweeney. This is one of 12 events to benefit Special Olympics.
Costumes are encouraged. For more information, go to www.ipolarplungeNV.com.
In 2013, plungers raised more than $450,000. Sponsors of the event include Greater Nevada Credit Union and Coca-Cola.
