July 13, 1936 - February 27, 2014
Connee Diaz Moore passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 27, 2014, at Carson Tahoe Regional Hospital. One of eleven children, Consuelo Ramona Diaz was born to Esteban and Maria Diaz, on July 13, 1936 on the Moreno Ranch in Corona, California. As a child, she was raised in nearby Chino, California on her family’s dairy ranch and graduated from Chino High School in 1955. A devoted mother of four, she later married the love of her life, Donald Moore, who loved her children like they were his own. Connee and Don moved to Gardnerville in 1971 from Southern California and the Carson Valley has been the family home ever since. She was her children’s biggest fan and could always be seen at one of their Douglas High baseball, basketball or football or volleyball games. Connee was adored by so many and was loved for her unique ability to love unconditionally, her loyalty, her straightforward approach and most importantly, her sense of humor. These qualities allowed people to naturally feel comfortable around her in any setting. She always created a welcoming and loving environment and as a result, the Moore house served as a friendly place to visit-and stay. Connee was also a fan of the San Francisco Giants as well as Wolf Pack football and men’s basketball and followed them passionately. Connee worked for twenty years at Bently Nevada Corporation, where she made lifelong friends before retiring in 1995. She is survived by her four children Rory Hickok (Jennifer), Rhonda Moore (Dick Erwin), Rod Moore (Tanya Thomas), and Robin Gattis (Clarisse); ten grandchildren, Brandon Hickok, Jamison Hickok, Erica Reid, Derek Reid, Nicole Moore, Valerie Moore, Kayla Moore, Tyler Moore, James Gattis, Justin Gattis; and one great grandchild, Ali Ward. She is also survived by sisters Teresa Brown, Mary Ann Carmona, brother Tony Diaz, as well as many nieces and nephews. Her husband, Don, preceded her in death, passing in 1999. Her gentle touch and contagious laugh will be so dearly missed by her adoring family as well as by all whose lives she touched. The family would also like to thank the wonderfully attentive staff at Carson Tahoe Hospital, especially the Intensive Care Unit nursing team of Barbara, Meagan and Terry. Arrangements were in the trusted care of Autumn Funerals & Cremations.
