Ron Knecht, a former Republican Assemblyman and current member of the Board of Regents, on Thursday joined the field of candidates to replace Kim Wallin as controller.
Among those the Carson City resident faces is current Nevada Assemblyman Andrew Martin, a Las Vegas Democrat. Knecht will face off in the primary against fellow Republicans Arlint Cort and Barry Herr, both of Las Vegas.
Martin will face Michael Schaefer of Las Vegas in the Democratic primary.
Knecht described himself as “a dependable limited-government constitutional conservative working for taxpayers and the broad public interest.”
He has written an opinion column for the Nevada Appeal that won’t appear while he’s running to avoid any conflicts.
