A forum featuring candidates seeking local and state offices in Carson City is set for Wednesday evening at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W. King St.
The forum for primary election contenders will provide candidates for sheriff, for the state Senate and Assembly, and for the city’s board of supervisors a chance to provide their views. It is sponsored by the Carson City Chamber of Commerce.
“The sheriff’s primary race has four candidates seeking that office and will be reduced to two or could be won in the primary, negating the need for a general election vote,” the chamber said in a news release. “This race is of the most interest to the voters.”
The chamber also said there actually is not a primary race for the two open supervisors’ seats because just two are running, so they automatically advance to the general election, but “the incumbent candidates have agreed to meet with their challengers.” The two Republicans running for the Assembly in District 40 and two others from the GOP seeking the Senate District 16 nomination also will appear at the forum, which is slated to begin at 6 p.m.
The forum will run until 9 p.m. and be televised live on ACCtv, which may be viewed by going online to www.acctv.org. The chamber, however, encouraged the public to attend.
Early primary voting begins on May 24 and ends June 6, with election day June 10.
