Don’t tie Reno VA in with other VA hospitals

Allegations coming from one veterans hospital should not be thrown back at all VA hospitals. As a service connected disabled veteran and an in and out patient at the Reno VA hospital for the last 28 years, their medical skills, concern and care for my health and wellbeing has been excellent.

Appointment waiting time has been reasonable. Pharmacy prescription service very efficient. A dedicated staff has made the Reno VA hospital one of the best.

Sheriff endorses Torres as successor

It has been an honor to serve the residents of Lyon County for the past 33 plus years with the last seven plus years as your elected sheriff. During my time as sheriff, we experienced tremendous growth in Lyon County followed by an economic downturn that affected us all. Despite those tremendous challenges, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office continued to operate as a professional law enforcement organization and continued to advance in effectiveness. The credit for our ability to persevere in the face of such adversity goes to many dedicated Lyon County Sheriff personnel and the leadership of our whole command staff, including our undersheriff, Albert Torres.

To borrow a quote from my predecessor, “While other people tell you what they are going to do, Albert Torres has already been here doing it.” Undersheriff Torres is a Nevada native and grew up in Lyon County. He has spent his entire law enforcement career serving the people of Lyon County. He has been dedicated to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office through the most difficult of times and has progressed through the ranks, eventually earning the position of undersheriff.

As undersheriff, Albert Torres acts in the sheriff’s stead and is trusted to make decisions that the voters have entrusted to the sheriff. He has done well in that capacity. He has also worked with me to combat crime, meet our core values, hold our people accountable for their actions, increase our professionalism and “Strive for Excellence.”

It is indeed an honor for me to be able to endorse Albert Torres as the next sheriff of Lyon County.
