One seriously injured, one fatal in motorcycle collision

A Minden resident was injured in a Carson City motorcycle collision that resulted in the death of a pedestrian Tuesday night.

Michael Trute, 61, was southbound on a 1999 Harley-Davidson on Stewart Street near Telegraph Street at 5:25 p.m., about the same time a man was crossing at the intersection, accoridng to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Trute was thrown from the motorcycle, and the pedestrian was killed in the crash. Trute was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, according to Trooper Dave Gibson of the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Gibson said the crosswalk was illuminated. The speed limit on Stewart is 35 mph. Gibson said alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the collision.

The identity of the pedestrian has not yet been released.

Nevada Highway Patrol Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team Trooper Doug Hildebrand is investigating this incident.
