ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands — Sterling Gibbs scored 15 points and Brandon Mobley had 12 as Seton Hall held on for a 68-60 victory over Nevada in the opening game at the eight-team Paradise Jam on Friday.
Seton Hall (2-0) held a 57-38 advantage with 9:23 remaining. Nevada gradually ate away at the lead until the Wolf Pack trailed only 63-57 with 1:16 left following Tyron Criswell’s 3-point jumper, a Michael Perez free throw and two free throws by Marqueze Coleman.
Jaren Sina, Gibbs and Isaiah Whitehead made five consecutive free throws to secure the win.
Angel Delgado pulled down nine rebounds as the Pirates out-rebounded Nevada 39 to 29. Seton Hall made 23 of 57 field goal attempts while limiting the Wolf Pack to 18-of-48 shooting.
Perez led Nevada (2-1) with 12 points, Coleman had 11 and AJ West and D.J. Fenner added 10 apiece.
