It’s not often that people go out of their way for veterans; you normally hear horror stories. But in this case, the story is not only far from a horror story — it is a Cinderella story.
There are two unsung heroes, angels, if you will, that have taken it upon themselves to not only help a veteran in need, but went over and beyond and spent over $2,000 of their own money to have a water well and frozen pipes fixed and a broken spirit restored.
On behalf of a grateful veteran, we would like to call out a public thank you to Shari and Carl Bertholf, two ordinary people doing extraordinary things with just a whisper of a man in need.
Also, V. Ray Vann and Rev. James Matthieu need to be thanked for their part of the miracle happening in this ol’ veteran’s life.
Though thank you doesn’t seem like enough. We are hoping that this letter to the paper gets to the right hands and gives recognition where recognition is due and that Shari and Carl Bertholf are thanked publicly in the paper, along with the others mentioned in the article, V. Ray Vann and Rev. James Matthieu.
