“Always remember the first rule of power tactics: Power is not only what you have but what the enemy thinks you have.” Saul Alinsky in Rules for Radicals. Alinsky was a staunch advocate of using government power to achieve his goal of socialism.
Rule of law takes on a whole new meaning for Alinsky liberals. Based on the premise that no means are too drastic to reach your ends, laws are only tools designed to be twisted and perverted to accomplish your goals. If there is any doubt about those in love with big government, one need only look at the Obama Administration.
Obama is an admitted Alinsky disciple, having used Rule for Radicals in his Chicago law classes. He has consistently used Alinsky’s strategies during his reign.
Witness his most recent and probably most blatant overreach, that of delaying deportation for about 5 million illegals. He is using “prosecutorial discretion” as his basis. By this act, he is allowing more illegals to stay in the country than new jobs were created by his economic policies since 2009, according to The Daily Caller.
Prosecutorial discretion doesn’t mean the law goes away or the act is now legal, simply that the prosecutor for some reason chooses not to prosecute. For example, if they don’t prosecute someone for marijuana possession, that doesn’t make possession legal. It does, however, subtly subvert the law. It was never intended for such a broad action.
Media toadies are calling this brave. More reasoned voices call it a travesty with broad consequences. Arizona and Texas officials have threatened or filed lawsuits on this action. Obama, when questioned about long-term consequences using a tax example, said executive action does not apply to taxes. OK, Mr. President, how can you then make changes to Obamacare?
The greatest example of Obama using Alinsky’s strategies has to be Obamacare. Obamacare was approved with huge lies. Jonathan Gruber is a Professor of Economics at MIT and one of the main architects of Obamacare. You may have seen recent clips of him explaining how Obamacare was crafted, at his behest, using vague and deceitful language in the bill. Further, he states the bill was passed based on the stupidity of the American voter and misrepresentation to Congress. Again, the ends justify the means, including lying to Congress and subverting the process. You should be mad. As Eric Bolling of Fox News pointed out, if Obamacare was working, no one would care how it came to be.
The star of the Spike reality show “Bar Rescue” is Jon Taffer. The show deals with turning around failing businesses. Mr. Taffer pointed out that if I changed cash flow and asset figures to sell you a business, and you bought the business based on those representations, I would have committed fraud. In his view the Obama Administration committed fraud upon the American people. Yet the Administration has been protected by lackey-in-chief Eric Holder.
On a side note, his suggested replacement, Loretta Lynch, was reportedly a member of the same small all-black sorority at Harvard that Holder’s wife belonged to. Do you really expect with that information Holder will be seriously investigated for any of the numerous laws he has subverted? Once again, Alinsky at work.
House Republicans are suing Obama over the executive orders and unilateral actions he has used to change the meaning and context of Obamacare to suit his fancy. Again, rule of law is less important than the end result. Media toadies decry this action as “being uncooperative,” ignoring six years of Harry Reid’s shenanigans.
This also raises a question. Why is it acceptable for liberals to run to the courts over everything they don’t like, but if anyone else does, they are racist ignorant radicals?
The White House and Department of Justice colluded to silence reporters and others attempting to bring the truth to the people. Sharyl Atkinson, Melissa Francis, and Michael Hastings come to mind. Tea Party advocates and businessmen were subjected to extra IRS scrutiny and audits.
I hope your Thanksgiving was happy. I also hope you gave some thought to what we have to be thankful for. I am thankful that our nation’s founders had enough foresight to understand human nature and place safeguards against the kind of actions Alinsky liberals promote. Hopefully, those safeguards will stand in the face of ongoing assaults on the country that became the greatest in history. Let us be vigilant against those who love big government, as long as it is theirs to control.
