Halloween sales could increase by 7.3 percent

The Retail Association of Nevada is predicting a solid 7.3 percent increase in Halloween spending this year to more than $110 million.

“A stronger economy supported by sustained gains in employment and taxable retail sales is certainly playing a role in this year’s higher sales projections,” said spokesman Bryan Wachter.

He said fortunately for retailers Halloween this year falls on the 150th anniversary of Nevada’s statehood.

And with the holiday falling on Friday this October, people will have more of a chance to celebrate over the weekend, contributing to the expected increase in sales.

In part because of that, Nevada is expected to substantially beat the national projections which predict a 5.9 percent increase.
