Some workers to get OT when time changes

State employees who are working when clocks change Nov. 2 will get overtime for the extra hour of work they do.

The annual daylight savings time change will move the clock back an hour that Sunday morning, effectively adding an hour to classified employee shifts in a variety of positions.

Lee-Ann Easton, administrator of the Human Resources Division, said those workers will be paid overtime for that extra hour. Under state rules, those workers have the option of taking compensatory time instead of OT pay.

That applies primarily to public safety and corrections staff who are in posts that must be staffed 24/seven.
