Platform: The central focus of my campaign has been on the business and election aspects of the position.

One of my many goals will be to bring more businesses to Nevada. More businesses mean more jobs. My campaign is focused on how to grow business; investing in the best and brightest by encouraging innovation and new ideas. I will make the Secretary of State’s office a one stop shop for businesses. The business website will be enhanced and I will create a comprehensive online business portal that interfaces with all licensing authorities and local governments. I will strongly advocate policies that expand the number of companies and individuals choosing to operate in Nevada, and will provide our job creators with a firm commitment that Nevada stands solidly behind them. I am opposed to higher taxes and more regulations which will not produce a stable business environment.

My campaign will also focus on upholding our existing statutes relating to election laws. Having served as a member of the Legislative Operations & Elections Committee from 2003 to the current time, as well as chairing the committee in 2005 and 2007, I understand the importance of respecting and enforcing our election laws.

Occupation: Nevada State Treasurer

Age: 55

Party: Democrat

Record of service: Peace Corps; United States Department of Justice; State of Nevada Senior Deputy Attorney General; Nevada State Treasurer.

Education: University of California, Berkeley, Bachelor of Arts, English and Political Science; University of California, Berkeley – Boalt School of Law.

In 1994, she received the Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division’s Outstanding Contribution Award, and in 1997 she received public acknowledgement for her work in the Antitrust Division from then United States Assistant Attorney General of Antitrust Joel Klein.

Platform: As Treasurer, I worked to save millions of dollars by making government more efficient, cutting spending and eliminating no-bid contracts that were draining the budget. I will take that approach of cutting waste and streamlining operations to the office of Secretary of State, work to make voting more accessible, safeguard every legal vote and ensure that there is no better place in America to build a business than Nevada.
