Local television reports stated the body was transported to the Washoe County Medical Examiner for positive identification. Local television reports also stated neighbors said they believed the body was of a woman who lived in the top unit of the home.
The structure on Gay Street was reported on fire shortly after 1 a.m. Friday. Fire crews from Central Lyon County fire department responded to the blaze along with Storey County Fire but, after 10 minutes, were forced back into a defensive attack.
That was followed by structural collapse of the building. It took until 4:16 a.m. to control and knock down the fire.
As of Friday the Nevada State Fire Marshal was continuing its investigation into the cause of the fire.
