Applications are available for two parades that highlight the annual Dayton Valley Days street festival — the Grand Parade on Saturday, Sept. 20, which exemplifies small town Americana, and the Sunday, Sept. 21, Pet Parade, which gives anyone with a socialized pet a chance to show-off their animal friends.

The Grand Parade honors all community volunteers with the theme “Volunteers Building a Strong Community.” Everything from fraternal and service clubs, churches, non-profits, youth groups, school groups and clubs, and individuals are invited to join as a large group of Grand Marshalls to lead the parade.

The Dayton Valley Days Committee is also seeking volunteers to carry signs to lead every participating organization in the greater Dayton area that has a focus on community volunteerism. Each of these groups is encouraged to participate in the parade.

Registration has three levels: individuals or groups for $5; businesses for $15; and political for $25.

Parade categories also include floats, antique tractors, rescue/fire equipment, political, cars, trucks, marching groups, walking groups, horse-drawn, mounted horse and other. Trophies will be awarded in each parade category.

All proceeds from Dayton Valley Days help support local charities and preservation of the town’s historic community center. To register or for parade details, go to www.DaytonValleyDays.org.
