Lilianna Adamson and Katelyn Coons enjoy a pitcher of Genoa water, which was recently pronounced the tastiest in the state.
Water from Douglas County Utilities’s Genoa Well was pronounced the best tasting in Nevada by the 2014 Nevada Rural Water Association Training and Technical Conference at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno.
The winner was selected by a panel of volunteer judges from entries across Nevada, after blind taste-testing and examination of 20 entries from around the state.
Douglas County Genoa Well came in at 39 points. The runner-up was Panaca Farmstead Association in Lincoln County, with 43 points. Other close scores were Round Hill General Improvement District with 45 points and Reno-Sparks Indian Colony, Hungry Valley, with 48 points.
The Genoa Well drinking water source is a deep aquifer located along the foot of the Carson Range. The judges based their decision on clarity, bouquet and taste. Timothy M. DeTurk, Superintendent of the County’s Utilities Division, was presented the good news at the Grand Sierra Resort event.
