SPARKS — Ryan Galvan scored two goals in the first 12 minutes to spark Carson High’s boys soccer team to a 4-2 victory over Reed Wednesday night in a Division I crossover match.

Carson, which has scored eight goals in its first two league matches, hosts Spanish Springs Friday at 7 p.m. in the football stadium.

All of Carson’s goals came in the first 26 minutes, as the Senators built a 4-1 lead. Reed’s only score came on a penalty kick.

Galvan scored in the first minute off a long cross from Christian Martinez. The Reed goalie came out and Galvan popped it over his head. Eleven minutes later, Galvan made it 2-0 off an assist by Rogelio Herrera. Galvan has three goals and three assists so far on the season.

Alejandro Gonzalez scored in the 16th minute off an assist from Brian Llamas and Herrera completed the scoring off a pass from Galvan.

Coach Mike Alvarez praised the defensive work of Martinez, Carlos Alvarado, Peter Garrett and Sal Rodriguez along with keeper Jose Moreno, who played in place of the injured Victor Guardardo.

“Everybody played well,” Alvarez said. “We totally dominated in the first half. The intensity went down in the second half. We had a few good looks in the second half.”

JV WINS: Misael Birramontes scored three times to lead Carson to a 5-1 win. Iseal Lopez and Ernesto Llamas scored a goal apiece.
