Tickets remain for Dustbowl Revival concert

There are still some tickets available for the concert by Dustbowl Revival tomorrow evening at the Art Center.

The L.A.-based band have a loyal following and were named best band to see live by L.A. Weekly. They’re a roots/Americana hybrid that draws upon many forms of American music from gospel and bluegrass to New Orleans swing, from jug band to Dixieland jazz.

Their instrumentation is as eclectic as their repertoire—tuba, trumpet, trombone, accordion, kazoo washboard, guitars, mandolin, fiddles and percussion. Rolling Stone magazine noted that their brand of Americana swing was so much fun that they went back to see them again the next day.

Music critics have suggested that if you can imagine a mash-up of Louis Armstrong and Old Crow Medicine Show, or perhaps think of Bob Dylan and the Band jamming with Benny Goodman’s clarinet you might begin to get an idea of this band’s infectious musical stylings.

The band will also present a free and open to the public conversation on their musical influences in the Art Center’s bar at 3 p.m. The talk is a great chance to visit with the musicians in an informal setting and perhaps they’ll even play a tune or two.

Doors to the evening performance will open at 7 p.m. and the show will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are $17 for CAC members, $20 for non-members and can be picked up at Jeff’s Copy Express, ITT @ NAS Fallon or by calling Churchill Arts.

Coming Sept. 27 is “Ales for Arts V” a brewfest that raises funds to help insure that Churchill Arts will continue to bring great performances, such as Dustbowl Revival to Fallon.

The event will be held in the Lariat Courtyard of the Art Center from 3-7 p.m. Admission is free and If you want to sample brews — from Lagunitas, Great Basin, Sierra Nevada, Bunejug (aka Ed Rybold, Gary Wick and Harve Smith), Barry Cochran and others it’s $25 for unlimited tastings.

Music will be provided by Old River Road featuring Dineen Little. Also, a crafty cocktail and wine—for those non-beer drinkers—as well as an array of sausages, salads and snacks will be available for purchase. For more info on the brewfest you can call Churchill Arts at 775-423-1440.
