The Fallon cross country team is showing is strength after the first three meets of the season.
Junior Tristen Thomson took home third place at the Whittell Invitational last week, marking his second straight appearance on the medal stand.
Ethan Smith followed with a strong performance taking eighth place, while Terry White was 30th and Marshall Coverston took 35th in the field of 63.
As for the Lady Wave, freshman Chloe Overlie placed seventh followed by Diana Martinez in 17th, Jordyn Rogers in 25th and Aida Sommer in 30th in the field of 47.
Girls tennis continues streak
The Fallon girls tennis team won its third straight Northern Division I-A match of the season, 11-7 against Incline on Tuesday at the Edward Arciniega Complex.
Fallon took a 7-5 lead heading into the third round and was lifted to victory by the play of its three doubles teams.
Debra Beyer and Kali Strong won 6-0, while Kayla Bekiares and Haley Lindsay and Melanie Nuckolls and Izzy Martinez each won their matches, 6-1.
All three doubles tandems went 3-0 on the day, while No. 1 singles player Sarah Inglis went 1-2, although she lost her third-round match 7-6 (7-3).
The Wave visited Truckee on Thursday, but results were not available at press time.
Boys tennis comes up short
The Fallon boys tennis team fell 11-7 at Incline on Tuesday.
Greenwave doubles duo of Tyler Wood and Martin Beyer, through, went 3-0. The tandem did not lose a game in three matches.
No. 1 singles player Adam Wadsworth went 1-2, while Joseph Jamieson netted the other singles win.
The Wave hosted Truckee on Thursday, but results were not available at press time.
Volleyball swept by Colts
The Fallon volleyball team suffered its second-straight loss with a 25-23, 17-25, 17-25, 18-25 defeat at Wooster in Reno on Tuesday.
Haylee Paladini led the Lady Wave (2-6) with nine kills followed by Evan Matheson (six) and Megan McCormick, Kristyn Arvizo and Aleisa Billips, who each had four.
McCormick also had three blocks and two aces, while Matheson added a pair of blocks.
Setters Zoey Swisher and Taylor Amezquita had 15 and 10 assists, respectively.
The Lady Wave opens their Northern DI-A schedule at home at 6 p.m. Friday against Spring Creek. Fallon returns to action at noon on Saturday against Elko.
Golfers fourth at Lowry
Tabitha Park led the Fallon girls golf team to its best showing of the season on Wednesday in Winnemucca.
Park carded a season-best 101 to finish ninth at the Lowry tournament, while the Lady Wave recorded a 444.
Viviane Ugalde and Sara Evans also shot a season bests with a 106 and 109, respectively. Ugalde placed 14th and Evans 15th.
Hannah Evans tallied a 128 to place 26th.
The Lady Wave sits in fourth place in the Northern Division I-A with 21 points behind Elko (30), Lowry (27) and Fernley (24). Fernley’s Brittany Evans leads the league with an 80.0 scoring average.
