The Nevada Division of Forestry will be conducting a prescribed burn at the Carson Lake Wetlands, about 10 miles south of Fallon either on today or Thursday at about 10 a.m., weather permitting.
The Carson Lake Wetlands burn is being conducted in cooperation with the Department of Wildlife.
The burn of about 1,100 acres will remove the growth of cattails and weeds to improve wildlife habitat in the wetlands.
Weather patterns will be monitored for smoke management prior to and during burn. The timing of the burns depends on optimum weather conditions.
