Runners 9th at North Tahoe

The Fallon boys cross country team placed ninth at the 32nd annual North Tahoe Invitational last week in Tahoe City, Calif.

The Greenwave tallied 193 points, while Northern Division I-A foes Spring Creek (71) and Elko (94) placed first and second, respectively, in the 3.3-mile race.

Fallon Junior Tristen Thomson placed fifth out of 156 runners with a time of 22:12.18 followed by sophomore Ethan Smith in 19th (23:08.72), junior Marshall Coverston in 68th (25:36.88), senior Cameron Kissick in 70th (25:41.34) and junior Michael Anderson in 88th (26:32.83).

Four California schools placed in front of Fallon, although the first five runners across the line came from Northern Nevada schools.

Defending state champ Noah Oberitter of Truckee was nearly 1 minute faster than Elko’s Kyler Simpkins. Oberitter crossed the line in 20:29.81, while Simpkins came in at 21:20.91.

Timothy Rose of Elko was third (21:58.59) followed by Cole Snyder of DIV Whittell was fourth (22:08.03) and Thomson.

The Lady Wave, meanwhile, placed 12th led by freshman Chole Overlie, who placed 20th (28:14.31) out of 122 runners. Junior Jordyn Rogers took 65th (32:45.88) followed by freshman Shelby Hickox in 66th (32:46.62), sophomore Amanda Pursley in 73rd (33:04.18), junior Adia Sommer in 77th (33:32.31) and junior Emily Scott in 96th (36:25.97).


Lady Wave falls short

The Fallon girls tennis lost 12-6 at Truckee last week and now sits 3-1 in the Northern Division I-A.

Fallon’s No. 1 doubles tandem of Debra Beyer and Kali Strong went 3-0, while No. 1 singles player Sarah Inglis, No. 2 Haley Lindsay and No. 3 Melanie Nuckolls each went 1-2.

The Lady Wave hosted South Tahoe on Tuesday, but results were not available before press time.

TRUCKEE NIPS BOYS

The Fallon boys tennis team fell 10-8 to Truckee last week and are 2-2 in the Northern Division I-A.

No. 1 doubles partners Tyler Wood and Martin Beyer went 2-1 and lost to state contenders Teagan Pado and Ethan Gotts, 6-4. The Fallon duo rolled in their other two matches losing only four games.

Adam Wadsworth, the Wave’s No. 1 singles player, went 1-2 with a close 7-5 loss in his opening match. No. 2 singles player Joseph Jamison went 2-1 losing 7-6 (7-4) in a tiebreaker in his opening match.
