Mary L. Bunten

Mary L. Bunten, born August 11, 1918, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sept. 17, 2014 at the home of her daughter in Rocklin, CA. Mary, born in Lebanon, OR and raised in Moapa Valley, NV lived in Carson City since 1951. Mary worked for the Nevada State Printing Office as a proofreader until her retirement. But after years spent correcting the mistakes of legislators and those in state publications, she returned for every session of the legislature at either the Printing Office or Legislative Council Bureau to continue her work until the age of 85. Mary loved to read and travel and took advantage of every opportunity to see the world. She had many friends who will miss her sweet smile, wry wit and sense of humor. Mary was preceded in death by her parents Grace and Arthur Doty, husband John W. Bunten, long-time companion Robert Taylor, and brother Stanley (Mabel) Doty. She will be sorely missed by her daughter Janice (Dan) Auld of Rocklin, grandsons Gregory (Elisabeth), Alexandria VA and Richard (Diana) Auld, Hollywood, MD, great grandchildren Emma, Michael, Ryan, Brayden and Rachel, sister Thalia (Delmer) Dooley, Ramona, SD and nieces and nephew Patti, Linda, and Tim Doty, nephews Douglas and Alan Dooley, and the many friends she made while living with her daughter in Rocklin.
