The Fallon cross country teams had a pair of its best performances of the season last week in Dayton.
The boys team took first place, while the Lady Wave grabbed a second-place finish.
Tristen Thomson continued his dominant season with an individual win in 18:34 followed by Ethan Smith, who crossed the line in 19:03.
Chloe Overlie, meanwhile, also placed first in her race of 43 runners with a mark of 22:44.
For the boys, though, Thomson and Smith were followed by Mo Coverston (20:53), Terry White (20:57), Cameron Matzen (21:10) and Michael Anderson (21:16).
For the girls, Jordyn Rogers took 13th (26:12) and was trailed by Shelby Hitchcock in 16th (26:53), Adia Sommer in 18th (27:11), Amanda Pursley in 19th (27:27), Shelby Smith in 25th (28:56), Emily Scott in 28th (30:05) and Jeannie Anderson in 35th (32:33).
Both teams ran at Fernley on Thursday, but results were not available at press time.
Lady Wave fifth at Spring Creek
The Fallon girls golf team took fifth at Wednesday’s Spring Creek tournament.
Sara Evans recorded a team-best 105 and tied 12th place, while Hannah Evans carded a 106 and tied for 15th. Tabetha Park came in 21st with a 119 and Vivian Ugalde shot a 122 for 25th.
For the season, Fallon sits in fourth in the team standings with 27 points trailing first-place Elko (40), Lowry (36) and Fernley (32).
Individually, Sara Evans leads the team with a 111.5 average followed by Park (112.8), Ugalde (115.3) and Hannah Evans (122.3).
Spikers swept by Lowry
The Fallon volleyball team was upended by Lowry, 25-19, 25-16, 25-19, on Tuesday in Winnemucca.
No statistics were available.
The Lady Wave visit Dayton today in another Northern Division I-A match. Fallon will play at Truckee at 6 p.m. on Monday after their match about two weeks ago was postponed due to smoke from the King Fire. The Lady Wave also take on Fernley on Tuesday at the Elmo Dericco Gym.
Tennis rolls to wins
The Fallon girls tennis team blew past Sparks, 14-4, on Tuesday and improves to 6-1 in the Northern Division I-A.
The No. 1 doubles team of Debra Beyer and Kali Strong went 3-0 as did the No. 2 duo of Jenna Spencer and Kayla Bakiares and the No. 3 tandem of Melanie Nuckolls and Izzy Martinez.
Singles players Sarah Inglis (No. 1) and Haley Lindsay (No. 2) each went 2-1, while Lana Quint (No. 3) was 1-2.
The boys, meanwhile, won 17-1 as Sparks only had one doubles team.
The Lady Wave hosted Incline on Thursday, but results were not available at press time. The boys, meanwhile, were slated to play at Incline.
