Dr. Amanda Casey has been selected as a recipient of this year’s Nevada Alumni Association’s Outstanding Young Alumna award.
The Fallon native, along with other alums, will be honored at a dinner on Thursday at the Joe Crowley Student Union.
Casey, a graduate of Churchill County High School and the University of Nevada, is a sixth generation Nevadan. She received her bachelor’s degree in biology in 1999 and a Doctorate of Medicine in 2006. In 2008, Casey served as chief resident in family and community medicine with the School of Medicine. She has served rural Nevada since completing her medical training and currently works as a hospitalist in Fallon, Winnemucca and Ely. Casey also practiced medicine at Dr. Tim Hockenberry’s Family Practice.
Casey married her high school sweetheart, Dusty, in 2001, and they have two daughters. They enjoy snow skiing, wakeboarding, hiking and other outdoor activities.
