Cinderella Ball will help Carson High student groups

Carson High School’s first Father/Daughter Cinderella Ball on April 17 will serve as a fundraiser for four CHS clubs.

The clubs will use the funds raised from the 6:30 p.m. ball to fund student clubs and send students to national competitions.

The ball will take place in the Morse Burley Gymnasium at Carson High School.

Cinderella’s ball will serve as a fundraiser for FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), Skills USA, Culinary Pro Start and CHS Leadership. The FBLA club is sending 17 students to that state competition in Las Vegas at the end of April.

Skills USA, an organization that prepares students for careers in technical, skilled and service occupations, including health occupations, is hosting its Nevada competition in mid-April. The national competition will take place in June in Louisville, Ky.

Culinary will be sending a team to nationals, after winnings its 11th straight state title, in Anaheim, Calif., April 17-22.

CHS Leadership’s 25 students also will benefit. The organization runs activities and events at the high school.

Tickets are $25 for a father and daughter and an additional $5 for each additional princess he brings. Tickets can be purchased at the high school from 2-3 p.m. during school days. Or, mail a check to CHS, Attn: Angila Golik, 1111 North Saliman Road, Carson City 89701. Tickets will be mailed. The dance is open to all ages from Carson City and the surrounding areas. Tickets also will be on sale from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday in the foyer of Morse Burley Gym. Tickets will also be sold on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the high school.

The Cinderella Ball will feature an appearance that night by Cinderella herself as well as Cidnerella’s coach available for photos that evening. All four organizations are participating in organizing the event; FBLA is handling the marketing, Skills USA is going to be photographing and providing music at the event; Leadership is going to be decorating and providing souvenirs and the culinary students are providing dessert.

“We are also crowning a princess from each elementary school that evening,” Golik said. “It will be a random drawing. As each girl enters, she will put her name on a ticket and which school she attends. The six elementary schools will each have a bucket to drop their tickets into and we will draw a girl from each bucket to crown as princess that night from that school.”

Golik said the clubs are doing it for all six Carson City School District elementary schools, the two CCSD middle schools, one drawing for preschoolers and one “out of town” princess.
