Carson City’s pump prices still cheaper than Nevada average

Nevada gasoline pump prices averaged $2.79 per gallon last week, a drop of 1.5 cents per gallon, but most Carson City outlets undercut that statewide average.

The national average in surveys by GasBuddy.com, a gas price-monitoring website surveying at all levels, the pump price last week was $2.39 per gallon and had dropped three cents from the previous Sunday.

In Nevada’s capital city community on Monday, three stations posted a price of $2.56 per gallon, nine were at $2.59, two more were a $2.64, one was at $2.69, seven were at the statewide average and two exceeded $2.79. That pair listed $2.83.

“Motorists have seen a quiet week at the pump with gasoline prices in much of the country in gentle decline,” said Patrick DeHaan, the website’s senior petroleum analyst.

“It’s a good time to reiterate that I expect this summer’s gasoline prices to be at their lowest seasonal levels since 2010,” he said, “and most areas will see prices at least $1 per gallon under where they were last summer.”

The national price has decreased 7.3 cents per gallon during the last month, and now stands at 118/5 cents per gallon lower than on April 6 of 2014, the website reported.
