Those interested in fishing can call 882-8758 or visit Timbers Saloon by Friday.
On May 2, is the fifth annual Tom Brooks Memorial Kids Fishing Day at Baily Pond, according to C.K. Baily, the chairman spearheading the event again this year.
Carson City Host Lion’s Club, of which Baily is a member, again is the sponsor and the event chairman said various other volunteers or organizations are helping set up and put on the 8 a.m.-1 p.m. fishing day that first Saturday in May. It’s at the pond just south of Fuji Park and Bodines Casino off U.S. 395.
There will be fishing, archery, BB gun shooting, fish painting in the Japanese fish art tradition, along with various prizes, Baily said. He said members of the Carson City Fly Fishing Club and other volunteers will help kids who need instruction on fishing techniques.
“It’s free everything,” he said, though he did add there are a couple of minor exceptions. He said participants under age 12 don’t need a fishing license, but those 12 or older do need a fishing license. He also said the Carson City Capitals Baseball organization would be offering hot dogs and other fare that will cost those who want it.
Asked about the prizes, he said information on them is being kept under wraps for now but added they are great.
