Youth Theatre Carson City’s production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” a biblical musical about the story of Joseph and his coat of many colors, will hit the stage April 10-12 in the Bob Boldrick Theater of the Carson City Community Center.

The story follows Joseph, a boy blessed with prophetic dreams who endures a series of adventures in which his spirit and humanity are continually challenged. Along the way, he meets a host of colorful characters. The production is set to a cornucopia of musical styles, from country-western and calypso to bubble-gum pop and rock’n’roll.

The cast and crew are comprised of over 50 local youth.

Leading the cast as Joseph is Mitch Miller, a student at Western Nevada College. Also featured are Natasha Franzen, Laura DeGraw, Serena Dantzler, Ethne Myler, and Kamryn Main as the narrators who tell the story entirely through song and dance. Also rounding out the cast are a host of young actors, singers and dancers.

“Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” is directed by Youth Theatre Carson City founder and Northern Nevada native, Andie Anderson, who has been a part of the arts community in Northern Nevada for over 20 years. She recently earned her Master of Arts Degree in Theatre Education from Emerson College in Boston, Mass., and is excited to be back in her hometown sharing her love of the arts with the community’s young people.

“I can’t be more proud of this cast,” Anderson said. “We’ve taken a journey, not only through Joseph’s story, but through the challenging work of Andrew Lloyd Webber, and these amazing kids have really grown so much through the process. Joseph has something for audiences of all ages to enjoy.”

The show runs at 7 p.m. April 10 and April 11 and at 2 p.m. April 11 and April 12. Tickets are $12 for general admission and $10 for students and seniors.
