Youth tracksters shine at annual meet

On Wednesday, 35 elementary students took to the track in the 11th annual elementary track meet at the Edward Arciniega Complex.

Run by the Fallon track teams, the youths competed in eight events throughout the day.

The future track stars were divided by grade level as third-, fourth- and fifth-graders all competed.

In the third-grade girls division, Reagan Colburn won the 100-, 400-, and 800-meter races, the long and high jumps and shot put and discus. Elena Holt was second in the 100, 400 and 800 as well and was tied for second with Reagan Powell in the high jump.

Powell was also second in the shot put and discus, while Janessa Bettencourt was third in both events.

In the fourth-grade girls division, Thien Pell won the 100, 400, 1,600 and high jump, while LiLiana Brown won the long jump and shot put. Isabelle Nuckolls was first in the discus, while RayAnn Rasmussen placed second in the shot put.

In the fifth-grade class, Nelly Ruiz was first in the 100 and 400, while Savanna Regli won the 1,600. Michaella Simmons won the long and high jumps and shot put and discus.

Zoey Brown took second in the high jump, Isabella Kauffman nabbed second in the 1,600, Gaby Lopez was third in the shot put and Kansas Smith was fifth in the 1,600.

As for the boys, in the third-grade division Ethan Tarner won the 100, 400, 800 and long jump, while Colton Urquhart was first in the high jump and discus.

Josh Nuckolls won the shot put, while Trenton Chappell was second in the 400 and high jump.

The fourth-graders were paced by Steven Moon, who won the 100, 400, 1,600, long and high jumps and shot put. Zach Coblentz was first in the discus.

John Rowe finished second in the 100, while Parker Steele was second in the 400 and 1,600.

Everdmar Garcia added a second-place finish in the long jump and discus, and Joey Nuckolls was third in the 1,600, high jump and shot put.

Malakai Verdugo placed foruth in the 400, Cameron Christy took fifth in the 100 and discus, while Sam Holt was eighth in the shot put.

In the fifth-grade class, Luke Sorensen won the 100, 400, 1,600, long jump and discus. Jackson Colburn was first in the high jump, while Richard Ruiz won the shot put.

Blake Coolbaugh took second in the 400 and high jump, while Mark Hutzel was second in the shot put and discus.

Youto Clare was third in the high jump and Jaydan Smith placed fourth in the 400.
