The Fallon Rodeo Club took advantage of its home turf.
Last weekend, the Fallon cowboys and cowgirls roped in five wins and numerous top-10 finishes at the Churchill County Fairgrounds.
Brothers Caleb and Cord Hendrix swept the team roping events with wins on Saturday and Sunday. In addition, Caleb Hendrix swept the cutting competitions, while Cord placed second on both days. The cutting event, however, was held several weeks ago in conjunction with two other rodeos as two clubs were not able to afford the cattle necessary to host location-specific cutting events.
The Fallon club’s dominance on Saturday in team roping continued with Mackay Spyrow, who placed second with Jordan Taylor (Moapa), Jes Tews and partner Dominic Ceresola of Fernley took third, Blain Jensen and Jake Cerini (Lovelock) placed fifth and another brother duo — Sam and Matt Goings — finished eighth.
Continuing Fallon’s impressive performance were Jessica Gomes, who took fourth in girls cutting and ninth in rein cow horse and Tews was sixth in rein cow horse.
Spyrow added a second-place finish in tie-down roping, while Leighton Beyer was sixth in goat tying and Joleen Weir was third in barrel racing.
On Sunday, Gomes nabbed a pair of fifth-place finishes in cutting and rein cow horse.
Fallon also continued its strong showing in team roping as Jensen and Cerini nabbed fifth, the Goings’ were sixth, Spyrow and Taylor took seventh and Tews and Ceresola were 10th.
Spyrow and Tews added a seventh-place finish in rein cow horse, while Cord Hendrix was sixth in tie-down roping, Matt Goings was seventh and Sam Goings ninth.
Weir, meanwhile, had a pair of solid performances taking third in barrel racing and eighth in goat tying.
As for the junior high athletes, Saturday’s action also had a number of top 10 finishes and one win.
Amanda Carey picked up the lone win with a victory in breakaway roping and added a sixth-place finish in goat tying.
Chloe Lambert was second in goat tying, fifth in breakaway roping, while Jayme Waggoner was fourth in team roping, sixth in barrel racing and 10th in goat tying.
Hayley Ray-Duke had a pair of impressive performances taking fourth in barrel racing and fifth in goat tying, while Ashley Puccetti-Price was fifth in pole bending.
On Sunday, Carey was third in goat tying, Waggoner and Jayden Jensen was fifth and Duke eighth in breakaway roping. Waggoner also took 10th in breakaway roping,while Lambert was seventh in goat tying and Puccetti-Price was eighth in barrel racing.
