Vito Anthony “Tony” Marangi, of Carson City, NV passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 13, 2015. He was 83 years old. Tony was born in Utica, NY on January 1, 1932 to his

parents Gregorio Marangi and Carmella Consoli as the fourth of five children. Tony grew up in Utica during the 30’s and 40’s until he served in the Navy during the Korean War. He attended the State University of New York at Potsdam, graduating with a degree in education with a major in biological science. He attended one year of Law School and completed evidence specialty session for judges at National Judicial College in Reno, NV. Tony was a claims manager for major insurance organizations for over 40 years in Fresno, CA and Reno, NV before he retired; but his favorite job was that of a substitute teacher at Carson High School following his retirement. In addition to his illustrious career, Tony was an active contributor to his community in which he lived since 1969 as he served for 6 years as a member of the Board of Trustees for Carson-Tahoe Hospital, 5 years on the Carson City Storm Drainage Committee, 10 years on the Transportation and Education Committees at Carson City Chamber of Commerce. Tony was an accomplished drummer performing with various bands throughout his life including the Generation Gap Band at the Senior Citizens Center from 1973 to 1998 (25 years). Tony is survived by his 7 children and step-children; his 18 grandchildren; and his 12 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Diann Marangi; his son, Vito Anthony Marangi, Jr.; his parents; and three of his

siblings. He will be remembered as a loving father/grandfather/great-grandfather, an accomplished musician, an active contributor to his community, a strong leader, and a generous, loving and cheerful man who greeted everybody with a hug and his favorite quote, “Don’t worry, be happy.” A funeral is scheduled for 4:00pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 411 N. Saliman Road, Carson City, NV. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tony’s life.
