Old Glory still there. Yesterday Mr. William Eassie mounted the Capitol Building and pulled aloft the nation’s flag, in commemoration of the centennial anniversary of the first battles which led to the Declaration of Independence, and the achievement of our liberties through the War of the Revolution.

130 years ago

Tonight there will be a novel race at the rink. There will be six saw-bucks at the stage and with timbers on each. At the word, six skaters will rush for the sawbucks, saw off a piece of board, come back over a hurdle, through a barrel, over another hurdle, up an included plain and down another, and then reach a pie table where they eat a piece of pie. This completes the circuit, and the first one wins.

Gov. Boyle Saturday issued the following proclamation: “Whereas, The importance of constructing and maintaining good roads is universally recognized; and Whereas, The state of Nevada has a problem in the construction and maintenance of its roads ... Therefore I, Emmet D. Boyle, governor of the state of Nevada, proclaim Saturday, May 1, 1915 as Good Roads Day.”

Dr. Albert Einstein, 76, one of the greatest physicists of all time, died today at Princeton Hospital of a ruptured aorta.

Smoke damage to four adjoining buildings resulted from a flash fire that also damaged the wall and attic area in the Sportsman’s Corner Saturday. Calvin Jones, one of the owners said a can of wax, while being softened with a stove used to wax skis fell from a shelf, setting skis on fire.
