Rural Counties Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, or RSVP, a nonprofit that helps homebound and low-income seniors, has adopted the silent auction at Dayton Valley Days as one of the its major fundraisers.
Now embarking on its second year of operating the silent auction, Kathy Bray, Lyon County field representative for RSVP, is reaching out for donations of anything of value, large or small, for this year’s silent auction. Donations are tax-deductible and are welcomed from businesses, organizations and individuals.
Proceeds from the silent auction help RSVP’s efforts to aid local seniors, and some funds will also help the ongoing preservation of Dayton’s historic community center.
The two-day street festival, on Sept. 19 and 20, features a pancake breakfast each morning, live entertainment, Railroad Days at the historic Carson & Colorado Depot, tours of the historic firehouse/jail and Dayton Museum, a free Kids Zone, a nationally-sanctioned chili cook-off, an outdoor craft fair, a hometown parade on Saturday, the Gold Creek Show n’ Shine, a motorcycle show-n-shine, a pet parade on Sunday and more.
