On Tuesday, Soroptimist International of the Comstock presented awards to Stella Taylor and Laura Kauf for their community service.
The Violet Richardson, presented for community service and leadership, was presented to Taylor of Dayton High School for her work in Stand Tall and the S Club. She received $100 to donate to her favorite charity
Soroptimist International of the Comstock sponsors the two S Clubs. These clubs work to improve the lives of students in their high schools and community.
Also honored with certificates of appreciation were Ashle Overlock and Michele Watkins for the hundreds of hours dedicated to the mentoring of students in the S Clubs at Silver Stage High and Dayton. These clubs are open to all students at both high schools.
The Ruby Award, given to a women in the community who’s not a member of Soroptimist but makes extraordinary differences in the lives of other women and children, was presented to Kauf, who received $100. The award winner donates time at the food banks in our communities, Remote Area Medical event and several other activities.
Kauf was also presented The Live Your Dream Award, the signature award of Soroptimist International.
It’s presented to assist women who have primary financial responsibility for themselves and their families. These women are entering or re-entering the workforce and are working on obtaining the education and skill training they need to improve their employment status. They can receive awards at the club, region and federation levels.
Kauf received a $500 scholarship as part of the award.
