Gov. Brian Sandoval has appointed a Sparks casino executive to fill a vacancy on the Nevada Gaming Commission.
Sandoval announced Monday that Michonne Ascuaga will take the seat previously held by Joe Brown, who announced his resignation from the board this month. She’ll start immediately and fill out the rest of Brown’s term, which ends in April 2017.
Ascuaga has been the CEO of John Ascuaga’s Nugget since 1997. She has also serves as the chairwoman of the Washoe K-12 Education Foundation.
Sandoval also announced that he was reappointing Patricia Mulroy to a four-year term on the board. She took the seat previously held by Peter Bernhard in 2014.
