Washoe Lake State Park is hosting a presentation about bats in which attendees can look at photos of some of the hundreds of species of bats and hear sounds bats make to hunt.
After a slide presentation titled “Bats: Truth or Tales?” the group will visit a nearby site to watch for and listen to active bats with a bat detector. The event covers what bats eat, where they live and how they are beneficial to humans.
The event will be at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1. Washoe Lake State Park is at 4855 Eastlake Blvd.
The event is free, but admission to the park is $7 per vehicle, with a $2 discount offered to Nevada resident. Cash or checks are accepted.
