Milton Merlos, a native of Boston, will perform a concert of Spanish Flamenco guitar from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park in Minden.
Merlos started playing the guitar at age 12. His travels to Spain instilled a love for the Spanish Flamenco style of playing. Now a professional musician with 16 years of experience, he lives part-time in western Nevada.
“A quiet passion became the flame that has gifted me so many warm memories and has now become the passion that fires my life,” Merlos said.
The park’s Twilight Concert Series is sponsored by Bently Ranch, Soaring NV, The Record-Courier, Dr. James the Dentist, Joyce’s Fine Jewelry, Douglas County, and the Frances C. and William P. Smallwood Foundation. This concert also receives funding support from the Nevada Arts Council, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
Tickets for $5 are available at Joyce’s Fine Jewelry and Battle Born Wine in Gardnerville, and online at dangberg.eventbrite.com. If available, tickets will be sold at the gate, which opens at 5:30 p.m. Children 16 and younger are free and do not need a ticket.
Visitors are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. Soft drinks, water and snacks will be available for purchase, or visitors can bring a picnic and their favorite beverage. Dogs are not permitted in the park.
The park is at 1450 Highway 88, about a quarter of a mile north of the Carson Valley Veterinary Hospital. The park’s full event schedule is at dangberghomeranch.org.
